Venessa Santiago is a crafter/maker she delights in the process of craft making and having a direct hands approach that makes every piece unique. Venessa observe how temperamental materials react and interact with nature from creation to the inevitable end, and explore the transient world of the impermanence and forgotten. Wabi Sabi plays a key role in Venessa’s current practice as the foundation, by celebrating the life of craft through imperfection and fragility in things handcrafted a contrast to things perfectly produced. Her work shows an intimate yet fragile relationship to nature and time, as she presents and foretells not present-day conditions but what is to come. Venessa’s work consists of a mixture of sculptures, installations, products and furnitures, often showing a deep connection to nature where she gathers inspiration.
