Andrea Moran is a textile artist who is currently re-examining textiles within a fine art context. Her work explores an innate response to natural forms through the investigation of processes applied on surface and stitch. An appreciation for process is met by emphasising the sensitive use of repetitive stitch – the gestures made upon a surface allowing an engagement with the broad versatility of materials used and the relationship between surface and stitch.
Process, which is as meaningful as the finished work has played a significant role in Andrea’s practice and has dictated the evolution of the work. Yet the work could be considered strange, non-methodical and at times far detached from the safe and traditional emerging as loose and unkempt.
